1933 ARMSTRONG SIDDELEY 15HP SPORTS SALOON

Engine: Six cylinders in line, side valves, single carburettor, 2.0 litre; Gearbox: four speed pre-selector; Suspension: semi-elliptic springs front and rear, Luvax hydraulic shock absorbers; Brakes: four-wheel drum. Right hand drive.
"The car of aircraft quality" was an appropriate slogan when it was used by John Siddeley's Armstrong Siddeley company for its products in the early 1930s. Consistent with its policy of steadily improving their existing well-known range of cars, the company introduced a revised edition of the 15hp model in 1933. The improvements for this type included increased power output, new rubberized engine mountings and a crankshaft damper to reduce vibration. The braking system was simplified and improved and the special features of the pre-selective, self-changing gearbox remained an extremely important component and one which had proved so reliable Messrs. Armstrong Siddeley introduced it as a standardized fitting five years earlier.
This particular example of the 15hp Sports Saloon was purchased by the current owner's father in 1982 from the widow of the initial owner. It is believed that the car was firstly the supplying agent's demonstrator. Finished in factory specification colours of cream and black with green coachline, it still retains its original green leather upholstery which has been beautifully preserved. Features include a full length sunshine roof, fitted vanity mirrors and perfume bottles, whilst under the bonnet the original petroloyle can for upper cylinder lubricant. The car is sold with its original jack, handbooks, contemporary road tests and some Armstrong Siddeley Enthusiasts Club literature.
In our opinion the car is in very good condition throughout. It runs and drives well and is offered with V5 registration document and current MoT certificate.
