A GREEK GOLD NIKE PENDANT
Hellenistic Period, Circa 3rd Century B.C.
Originally suspended from an earring, the goddess depicted wearing a diaphanous chiton which has fallen off her right shoulder, exposing her breast, her right leg projecting forward through a vertical fold, her right arm extended out, gripping the end of her mantle, her left hand holding a palm branch which arches over her head, her hair center-parted and tied in a double knot at the top of her head, her wings upraised, preserving part of a suspension loop in back
