Lot Essay

Wantrup 60a, pages 124-125 'Curr's book has an important place in the early emigration literature, above all because of his intimate involvement with promoting early schemes for settlement and tenancy through the Van Diemen's Land Company. As well, the book is the first emigrants 'guide written by a real emigrant'. Curr was an early settler and business man who arrived in Van Diemen's Land in 1820. He became the chief agent for the Van Diemen's Land Company in 1825.
