FDR TO ER, 1928

An excellent, richly toned photograph, showing Roosevelt, with a determined expression in the mouth, gazing directly at the camera, wearing suit and tie. INSCRIBED BY GOVERNOR ROOSEVELT TO ELEANOR ROOSEVELT in ink in lower blank margin: "E.R. from FDR - Christmas 1928."

A frequently reproduced image of FDR during the period when he served as Governor of New York.

Provenance: Eleanor Roosevelt, originally hung in the Executive Mansion, Albany, New York, later in the White House (where it is visible in many photographs of Eleanor's office), later at Val-Kill Cottage (seen in photographs taken of the cottage interior in 1962, immediately after Eleanor's death).

Exhibited: Franklin Delano Roosevelt Centennial Exhibition, 1982.
