Lot Essay

As Susan Caroselli notes (The Painted Enamels of Limoges - A Catalogue of the Collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, 1993, p. 36), the Nouailher family is known to have existed in Limoges until at least 1804, although their main period of activity was in the 16th Century.
