Lot Essay

The intricate interior of this vargueño, unlike many of this type which are enclosed by fall-front writing surfaces, is immediately accessible. A closely related cabinet and base, with both the same construction and decoration, is in the Museo Arqueológico Nacional, Madrid. See L. Feduchi, El mueble Español, Barcelona, 1969, p.123.
