Lot Essay

The Concert for Bangladesh, organised by George Harrison, was the only time Clapton played in public during a long, reclusive period from December, 1970 until the beginning of 1973. Also appearing on stage for this benefit concert were Ringo Starr, Bob Dylan and Ravi Shankar.

The vendor acquired this jacket circa 1982 when Eric and Patti Clapton held a sale of their old clothing for charity in the local village hall in Cranleigh. He apparently asked Clapton if the jacket he wore during the Concert For Bangladesh was to be included in the sale and Clapton pointed it out to him.
