A Senior Officer's Uniform of the Nepalese Army
A good double-breasted scarlet tunic, with rifle-green turn-down collar and gauntlet cuffs, gold lotus-leaf embroidery on collar, cuffs and back-skirts, 8 fine gilt buttons in each row in front, mounted with Crossed Kukris and Sunburst device, with magnificent gold epaulettes, with gilt metal crescents and check-lace straps bearing the Arms of Nepal and other devices, in gilt metal, in their fitted velvet-lined tin; an aiguillette, the plaited elements of plain gold cord, the loops of gold cord flecked with dark green; a dark green single-breasted frock coat, the fronts fastening with hooks and eyes and edged with rows of plaited gold Russia braid, six buttons, as on tunic (see above), foliate decoration in gold embroidery on chest, collar and cuffs; a gold waist-sash of General Officer's style, but with lines of dark green in the lace, and with dark green interior to tassels; a pair of dark green cavalry twill overalls with 1½in. gold lace stripes; a dark green forage cap, with gold embroidery on band and peak, bearing a badge in gilt and white metal (the badge with brooch-fitting); a pair of black leather knee-boots with high fronts; a Mameluke sword by RANKEN & Co, CALCUTTA, with very fine blade etched with foliate decoration and a Nepalese cypher, ivory grip and cast gilt crosspiece mounted with a similar cypher in white metal, plated scabbard, gold cord sword-knot with bullion tassel (slightly defective); and a set of gold-embroidered black leather sword-slings, attached to a webbing belt.
