Lot Essay

The present lot represents the qualities of the Amsterdam School in both its sculpted form as the use of wrought iron. Illustrated in the VANK-yearbook of 1920, this example is one of the icons of the named stylistic movement. H.J. Winkelman worked closely together with famous artists, sculptors and architects in his wellknown workshop for ornamental ironwork Winkelman & Van der Bijl.
