Lot Essay

The present lot was a gift from Fernando Botero to Mr. Charry Lara for his services as attorney in the early 1970's. The painting bears a dedication from the artist. Mr. Charry Lara has recently been bestowed two important awards for his contributions to culture: the National Award of Poetry José Asunción Silva 2000 from the Board of Directors of the Casa de Poesía Silva as well as the Cruz de Boyacá from the Government of Colombia.
