Lot Essay
Four works are executed by Sir Charles Barry himself, the remaining eleven were executed by the Office of Barry, however at least nine drawings and the lithograph of the principal floor have pencil additions and inscriptions in the hand of Barry.
The lithographic plan of the principal floor shows Barry adding in pencil the mediaeval White Hall, where the House of Commons sat during the rebuilding and also the Painted Chamber where the House of Lords convened, which after the completion of their New Chamber, was demolished.
For a design for the House of Lords, by Sir Charles Barry, see lot 93.
