A red lacquer box and cover
18th Century
of tall square shape and canted edges, the sides carved in relief with panels of dragons amongst foaming waves and cloud scrolls on a leiwen reserve within key-fret borders, the top inset with a cloisonne plaque decorated with a central shou-character surrounded by bats, on a swastika pattern ground -- 3 7/8in. (9.8cm.) high, (chips to edges).
