Special notice
Christie's charge a buyer's premium of 20.825% of the hammer price for lots with values up to NLG 200,000. If the hammer price exceeds the NLG 200,000 then the premium is calculated at 20.825% of the first NLG 200,000 plus 11.9% of any amount in excess of NLG 200,000.

Lot Essay

Noteworthy is the letter from Victor de Stuers dating 16 May 1881 in which the artist is requested to sell the painting Binnenplaats te Kairo to the Rijksmuseum van Moderne Kunst for the amount of Dfl 700. In a letter from Brussels, dating May 1881, Testas agrees to the proposal and sells his painting which at the time was exhibited at the Tentoonstelling van Levende Meesters in The Hague.
