A rare .65 Flintlock Pattern 1800/15 Ordnance Baker Rifle
Early 19th Century
With russet barrel with block back-sight with single hinged leaf, iron blade fore-sight, and bayonet lug on the underside of the muzzle, flat bevelled lock with 'GR' crowned, and crowned broad arrow mark beneath the pan, the tail engraved 'Tower', walnut three-quarter stock (bruised) with regulation brass mounts, brass escutcheon (replaced), and later brass barrel-bolt escutcheons, struck on the butt with storekeeper's stamp with illegible date, crowned 'JR' (?) stamp to the rear of the side-plate, and crowned numeral inspection stamps to the rear of the trigger-guard and in the ramrod-channel, and correct iron ramrod and bayonet (iron parts with some surface pitting, internal partition removed from butt-trap, sling swivels missing), Ordnance proof marks
