Maker's mark of Hancocks & Co., London, 1907, stamped Lake & Son Silversmiths, Exeter
Shaped oval with broadly incurved scalloped corners, the flaring sides openwork with flowers and foliate scrolls enclosing two cut-outs for handles, with applied gadrooned rim--length over handles 26¾in. (67.9cm.), 137oz., in a green baize-lined fitted oak case, the interior twice with retailer's paper label ELLETT LAKE & SON GOLDSMITHS & C. 43 HIGH STREET EXETER, with lock and key--27¾in. (70.5cm.) long
