A GENE KELLY CLOWN COSTUME FROM SINGING IN THE RAIN,
M.G.M., 1952
A three piece dancing costume designed by Walter Plunkett worn by Gene Kelly in the brilliant comic musical SINGING IN THE RAIN, co-starring Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Connor. The long-tailed tuxedo style overcoat is cream and black herringbone wool, fully lined in a red cotton blend. The cotton blend undershirt is blue striped sewn with felt cutout patches. The wide legged clown style trousers with suspenders are in matching herringbone, on the inside waistband the sewn in tag Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Gene Kelly 1546 9009.
