Lot Essay

The Punter shows the obvious influence of Robert Tait McKenzie, the artist's teacher. Brown reworked this model in 1970 as one of the four monumental figures of athletes which he was commissioned to provide for R.F.K. Stadium in Washington, D.C. These are Punter, Tackle, Batter and Play at Second Base.
