HEROLT, Johannes (d.1468). Liber Discipuli de eruditione Christifidelium. [Strassburg: Georg Husner, ca. 1476].
Chancery 2° (290x205mm). Collation: [1-410 5-138 146 158 166 17-288 29-3010] (1/1 blank, 1/2r text, 29/1v table in chronological order, 30/1v table in alphabetical order, 30/10 blank). 248 leaves (quires 14 and 15 reversed in order, two inner sheets of quire 15 reversed in order, with contemporary manuscript catchwords directing the reader to the next appropriate folio). 35 lines and headline. Type: 2:110G. First 7-line initial in red with brown decoration, 2- to 5-line initials, capital strokes, paragraph marks and some underlining in red. (Very light dampstaining in first quire, very occasional, very light foxing, small tear in fo. 19 affecting some text.) Contemporary pigskin over wooden boards, paper spine labels, single brass fore-edge catch with remains of clasp, vellum MS. spine liners (staple holes for chaining at top of lower board, missing corner and central bosses, small natural flaw in leather of upper cover, slightly worn at spine extremities). Provenance: Bamberg, Carmelites, inscription.
