Two engraved titles, [the second reads 'Evangelicae Historiae Imagines', 1593] and 153 engraved plates by Bernardo Passaro, Martin de Vos and Jerome and Antoine Wierix, engraved headpiece and culs-de-lampe, pages ruled in red. (Minor occasional staining). Early 17th-century red morocco gilt, outer and inner panel of triple fillets, in centre the arms of SIMON DE CRESSÉ, [Olivier 1277], spine gilt with raised bands in 7 compartments, containing the same gilt armorial. Bound by the Atelier Le Gascon. A similar binding also for Cressé is illustrated in the Esmerian Catalogue II (8 Dec. 1972) no.2. (Covers a little rubbed and discoloured). Provenance: Simon de Cressé, général des monnaies et échevin de la ville de Paris in 1570.
