Contemporary blue-grey boards (neatly re-backed with later paper lettering-pices on backstrips), the two vols. within a single chemise and modern morocco-backed slip-case. Provenance: Joseph Dawson (inscription, adted 1819).
A FINE COPY OF THIS CLASSIC WORK. The first english translation of vol.I only was issued in 1814 (in both 1 and 2 volume format); in 1816 the first complete edition appeared. This 1818 edition is therefore the second complete edition in English and incidentally the first to appear under the title Swiss Family Robinson (the work was initially called Family Robinson Crusoe).
