H A R R Y N U T T A L L
Harry Nuttall was born in 1897 in a cottage at the corner of Burnden Park, his father serving the club as both trainer and groundsman. After spells with St. Mark's and Fleetwood, Nuttall came home and joined Bolton in December 1920. He made his league debut in September 1921 at half-back. In this position he was not only to capture three F.A. Cup winners medals but was also to appear for England on three occasions. He was also selected as a reserve for England three times in 1929 but was released due to Bolton's F.A. Cup run. In 1932 he joined Rochdale and a year later he became second-team trainer, then kit-man, retiring in 1964. Nuttall amassed over 320 appearances for Bolton, scoring just six goals. He died in May 1969.
