A collection of 13 reels by Kinora Ltd. of London, [no date but circa 1913-1914]. 13 reels of film, including 4 duplicates, most contained in original card cases with titles inscribed in ink

[With:] Two oak, metal and glass viewers 'The Kinora... Patented throughout the world Bond's Ltd 138 New Bond Street..', [circa 1913-1914], Length 31cm.

Each of the reels is centred on a brass hub, each hub stamped 'Kinora Co. Ltd./London' as well as a catalogue(?) number. Six of these reels are 'home movies' of the Shackleton children and their parents. The subjects as identified on the boxes in contemporary manuscript hand (Lady Shackleton) are as follows:

1. 'Eddie/first steps'; 2. 'Eddie'; 3. 'Mother/Ray & Cecily'; 4. 'Eddie on/Daddy's Knee'; 5. 'A Tea Party/R.[ay] C.[ecily] E.[ddie]'; 6. 'Ray/Cecily/& Eddie'.

The subjects of the three remaining reels are: 1. 'Cowes Regatta' (stamped number '448'); 2. 'Tower Bridge' (stamped number '258'); 3. 'Lifeboat' (stamped number '79')

An unpublished collection of 'moving picture' footage of Sir Ernest Shackleton and his family prior to the departure of the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition in 1914.
