An interesting and unusual series of views of life in Milan at the end of the 18th century. Domenico Aspar studied in Parma, came to Milan and rose to become Professor of Drawing at the Academy of Milan. As an engraver this is his most important work; he worked in the style of Piranesi composing street scenes with gatherings of people about their daily tasks. In all Aspar produced 23 etchings of Milan (Benezit); The British Library map room also has a bound group of 15 views. Not in Berlin Cat.
