Large 4to (355 x 290 mm.), hand-coloured engraved title, uncoloured etched plan with letterpress explanation on verso, and 55 hand-coloured aquatint plates after T.Whitcombe (some offsetting of plates onto text, the final uncoloured plate with neatly repaired clean tear, occasional light soiling).

Uniform later red morocco richly gilt-tooled to a floral design, elaborately gilt red morocco doublures, ivory watered silk liners, t.e.g. (occasional very slight scuffing to extremities).
Late issues in a sumptuous binding. The early issue of the first work [1816-17] has the title vignette in its uncoloured state, and generally contains 2 additional portraits of Nelson and St.Vincent. The early issue of the second work [1814-15] has the title vignette in its uncoloured state and sometimes contains a portrait of the Duke of Wellington. cf.Abbey Life 337 & 365; cf.Tooley 282 & 281.
