A GERMAN 'PAPPENHEIM' RAPIER with broad double-edged blade (pitted) of flattened hexagonal section with double fuller at the forte stamped with letters, struck on each face with the king's head mark, iron hilt of characteristic symmetrical cup-guard of rings involving two large convex plates (one missing) with a diamond-shaped panel of pierced close-set circles and lozenges, arms, slender quillons with vertically recurved tips (one broken), knuckle-guard, fig-shaped pommel, and later wire-bound wooden grip, circa 1630
