INDENTSergeant John Forster Gibson, Wireless Operator Air Gunner, No. 100 Squadron (Vildebeests) was almost certainly killed in action, 26 January 1942 as a result of one of the suicidal missions against the waves of Japanese landing on the east coast of Malaya; flying in obsolete biplanes with a maximum speed of 137 miles an hour the crew of these ancient machines flew to their deaths against the greatly superior 'Zero' fighters

Flight Sergeant Geoffrey Pool, No. 62 Squadron, is recorded as being killed in action, Far East, 14 February 1942; his name is commemorated on the Singapore Memorial to the Missing

Aircraftman Reginald James Holben, served with 163 Maintenance Unit, R.A.F. and died during captivity as a prisoner of war of the Japanese; he was buried in Labuan War Cemetery, Borneo
