Bury, Jewellery 1789-1910 (1991) vol.II, p.524 where it mentions that 'The firm of William Marshall & Company of 24 Princes Street, Edinburgh was awarded a Medal at the 1862 Exhibition for general excellence in the manufacture of gold and silver jewellery inlaid with various agates and enamelled; some of the brooches, etc...are in the old style and well executed'
