Pierre Frédéric Ingold was born at Bienne, Switzerland in 1787. He worked in Paris for the master and carriage clock genius Abraham Louis Breguet and was one of the pioneers in producing duplicate watch parts by machinery. He is perhaps best known for the Ingold fraise, which for rounding up wheels and giving the proper form of tooth has never been excelled. This superb quality carriage clock bears the influence of his master with its highly decorative case, unusual duplex platform and vertical twin hammer strike.
