1927 WILLYS KNIGHT MODEL 70A ROADSTER
Registration No. DS 8650
Chassis No. C 42124
Engine No. 43708
Red with black wings and black interior
Left hand drive
Although John North Willys had been guiding the fortunes of the Overland company since 1907, it was not until 1914 that a car carried his name. Joining the Overland that year was the Willys-Knight, the sleeve valve engined car which was to endure longer than any other, with Willys-Overland ultimately producing more Knight engined cars than virtually all other manufacturers in the world combined. The cars were made in Toledo, Ohio and from 1926 all Willys-Knights were six cylinder models.
The Model 70A was rated at 52hp and was built on a 113in wheelbase. This car arrived in the UK from Long Beach, California in 1990 and is in fair condition. The engine was running extremely well on inspection in July. The last MoT expired in July 1991. The only modification we noted from standard was a modern fuel pump although the Autovac is still fitted.
