Aalto's skills as a master designer of lighting have often been overshadowed by his prominence as a designer of plywood furnishings. Aalto's lighting of the mid-1950s is characterised by a soft diffused lighting, allied to the use of high-quality materials, such as, in the case of this series, brass and leather.
