Lot Essay

This fragment from a Ming carpet represents one of the small number of surviving pile rugs depicting stylised floral motifs in accordance with Ming taste. A larger fragment of the same carpet owned by Alberto Boralevi was exhibited at the ICOC Milan in 1999 (Hali 108, January/February 2000, p.137).
