Large oblong 2° (466 x 570mm). Hand-coloured aquatint title within emblematic wreath incorporating 20 oval sporting vignettes, list of plates in English and French with large hand-coloured aquatint vignette of a hare, 20 FINE HAND-COLOURED AQUATINT PLATES AFTER SAMUEL HOWITT. (Title and contents list slightly creased, tears to margins of plates 20, 10, 18 and 19, all but number 18 neatly repaired.) Contemporary red straight-grained morocco, decorative red morocco title label mounted on upper cover (extremities somewhat scuffed).
'VERY RARE. THE FIRST AND ONLY EDITION OF THE FINEST AND MOST IMPORTANT SPORTING BOOK OF THE LAST TWO CENTURIES' (Schwerdt).
