Lot Essay

A Polish artist, Kucharski studied in Italy before settling in Paris. As early as 1762, he entered Vien's studio and later that of Carle Van Loo. He later became painter to Marie-Antoinette, whose Portrait de Marie-Antoinette au Temple made him famous.
