Twenty-two albumen prints, nineteen hand-tinted, sizes approx. 5¼ x 3½ in. to 8 x 10½ in. or the reverse, three with arched tops, approx. twelve titled and fifteen numbered in the negatives, the majority mounted on card, one titled in ink on mount, eleven matted. (22)

Lot Essay

Five images of Samurai including a full-figure portrait of a Samurai in traditional dress posed in a wooded landscape; two images of Japanese wrestlers and five images of tattooed men known as Bettos. One image is mounted back-to-back with a hand-tinted study of irises.
