1960 FORD POPULAR DELUXE
Registration No. 1521 VX
Chassis No. 100E867402
Engine No. 100E6017
Blue with pale blue interior
Right hand drive
Just prior to the First World War and during the twenties, the great Detroit Ford concern began to diversify its activities. Sites and plants were set up in various parts of the world including Germany, France and Britain where the operation was based at Trafford Park, Manchester. In 1932 the British operation was transferred to Dagenham, Essex where it has remained and expanded ever since.
When the factory had turned round and recovered from the war years, Ford moved away from the old fashioned image of the perpendicular Ford with two new models, the Consul and Zephyr which had up to the minute styling of transatlantic inspiration, comfortably sprung and fast. These were followed by the Zodiac, Anglia and Prefect and eventually the Popular. The New Popular was introduced in 1959 with an increased break horse power to 36 at 4,000rpm.
This car was taxed until September 1993 and the MoT expired in early 1994. It is hoped that there will be a new MoT by the time of the sale. The car has driven 74,832 miles since new and is in fairly good condition. The battery, rear exhaust, brake cylinders and front and rear shoes have were replaced in the last two or three years.
