Lot Essay

Annie Rose Laing (née Low) was born in Glasgow where she studied at the Glasgow School of Art and married the artist James Garden Laing (1852-1915). She exhibited regularly at the Glasgow Royal Institute of Fine Arts and at the Royal Scottish Academy, often showing pictures of women enjoying quiet moments at home.
