Lot Essay

David Bowie spoke of this cover in a recent interview with 'Q' magazine: The dress was from Mr Fish. They were called men's dresses. This one was very pre-Raphaelite looking. I'm not sure if I was really trying to be provocative, it was more like a hangover from the '60s. It was certainly more provocative when I wore it in America. The album wasn't released with this original art (inset) in America. (See Q Magazine, May 1993, p.80)
