Lot Essay

Rockingham Park, Salem, is the only Thoroughbred racetrack in New Hampshire, U.S.A. It opened its doors for the first time in 1906 but at the end of the 21-day inaugural meeting the track was closed down as betting on horses was then illegal in New Hampshire. In 1933 the State law was reversed and racing has continued there ever since.
