NEWTON'S New & Improved TERRESTRIAL GLOBE Published by Newton, Son & Berry 66 Chancery Lane LONDON [c.1835]
A 3-inch (7.6cm.) diameter terrestrial globe made up of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores, the equatorial and meridian graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days of the houses of the Zodiac, the oceans with numerous tracks of explorers including those of Cook and Biscoe, Antarctica showing Enderby's Land, Peter 1st Island, Alexander 1st Land and Isles of Ice, the continents outlined in green, Europe and South America further outlined in red, and showing towns, cities, mountains, rivers and the Great Wall of China (numerous areas of discolouration and abrasions, several cracks, paper and some plaster loss to approx. ½in. square in southern Pacific) with two iron axis pins in the bottom half of a turned mahogany case (domed lid lacking)
