A fine 8-inch (20.3cm.) diameter terrestrial time-piece globe made up of twelve chromolithographed gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial, meridian and ecliptic not shown, the equatorial represented by a separate stamped brass band graduated in degrees and held in place by a thin brass wire meridian, the oceans with ocean currents, Antarctica with mostly projected coastline, the continents with towns, cities, rivers and mountains, the Congo labelled Association Nationale du Congo, Panama shown as part of Columbia (some minor rubbing and discolouration) with a turned brass finial, raised on a short brass column to the the gilt-painted and ebonised dome base containing the clockwork mechanism, the upper part with small brass stars on a black ground, three arrow-shaped hands stamped HEURE UNIVERSELLE, HEURE MERIDIENNE OU LOCALE and HEURE ANTIMERIDIENNE OU ANTIPODE arranged to read off a gilt-painted scale of hours I-XII (x2) around the base, above a decoratively-cast foliate border -- 14in. (35.5cm.) high
