A 12-inch (30.5cm.) diameter terrestrial table globe made up of two sets of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores, the equatorial graduated in hours in both directions, minutes and degrees, the equinoctial colure graduated ind egrees, the ecliptic graduated in days of the month and of the houses of the Zodiac, the oceans with an analemma and numerous tracks of explorers such as Cook, La Perouse, Wilkes, Gore and Clerke, the Antarctic with notes relating to Wilkes', Weddell's and Cook's visits and some portions of coastline, the continents with some nation states delicately hand-shaded in green or pink, others outlined in red, and finely detailed, showing towns, cities, rivers, mountains and the Chinese Wall, Africa showing Congo Free State (some minor discolouration, some neat repairs with detail loss to South Pole) both poles printed with an hour dial, the North Pole with a brass index, with stamped brass meridian ring, the mahogany horizon with hand-coloured engraved paper ring showing degrees of altitude and azimuth, compass directions, days of the month and of the houses of the Zodiac, raised on four baluster-turned legs united by cross-stretchers -- 18¼in. (46.3cm.) high
