Finely painted with the Biblical scene showing Christ in all his glory rising from the tomb, a seated angel watching in amazement and the four Roman soldiers collapsed in a heap in the foreground, the details of their armour in gilt, all within an elaborate border of strapwork, scrolling acanthus and cornucopiae

A grisaille plate with this subject and a variant border is illustrated by Hervouet and Bruneau, op. cit., p. 267, where they note that the three small figures in the right background are unexplained, and do not appear in the famille rose versions of the scene
