JEFFREY BILHUBER
Jeffrey Bilhuber of Bilhuber, Inc. is one of the most respected and recognized names in the field of design and decoration. We are honored that he has agreed to share his thoughts about our inaugural House Sale at Rockefeller Center.
The monthly House Sale will include works of art from a number of different specialized fields, such as European furniture, sculpture, porcelain, rugs, silver, prints and paintings. The success of our British Interior, Continental Furniture, and single owner multi-departmental sales has demonstrated a keen interest in the House Sale venue. This is the perfect opportunity for collecting or decorating within a broad range of prices.
Jeffrey's signature vision uses classic materials in a refreshing and inspired manner, creating a continuity of style while nurturing a modern tradition. He is known for his ability to successfully marry history to the best of modern design and technique. Here we see Jeffrey with Melissa Barrett Rhodes previewing in the Christie's basement treasure trove some of the items available for purchase in the February House Sale. Jeffrey has selected some classic pieces from this sale to create an interior that respects the past while creating his look of the present.

DESIGNER SELECTIONS FROM THE FEBRUARY HOUSE SALE
1. Lot...Louis XVI White Painted Bergere:
What a tailored and refined line! We're edging into a new age of refinement, the dignity of a new suit and tie age. Certain lines have been edited through the years to achieve an item that warrants universal approval. This Bergere mixes so well no matter what the backdrop, whether traditional or modern.
2. Lot... A Venetian Baroque Blackamoor:
Once the basic decorative foundation has been established, then we can inject a certain degree of whimsy of light heartedness to bring the space to life. But what to put in the basket held by this Blackamoor? Perhaps he should stand guard in the hallway to confront the guest or occasional intruder or just to hold the winter gloves and scarves.
3. Lot....A Set of Twelve Regency Parcel-Gilt and Ebonized Dining Chairs: Ebonized or painted chairs marry so well with the polished antique fruit wood table in the breakfast or dining room. Tradition is taken one step further to create a design environment more conducive to the present. The contrast adds personality and energy to the room.
4. Lot... A French Pewter, Brass, Tortoiseshell and 'Boulle' Marquetry Box: Let's add a discrete level of luxury to a contemporary setting. This item has body, while maintaining a certain degree of restraint.
