A George IV mahogany and brass-inlaid mantel timepiece, circa 1830
The case with pineapple finial to a fluted chamfer top, with loop handles to the sides (one lacking), the front with brass inlays, with gadrooned bands to the base and cornice and raised on brass ball feet, the white painted Roman convex dial with blued steel moon hands, signed Thomas Giffin, the single gut fusee movement with anchor escapement and pendulum holdfast -- 16¼in.
