Of flattened, lobed melon form, well carved through the ruby-red overlay to the milky-white ground with butterflies flying amongst leaves and vines, stopper

Lot Essay

Fruit and vegetable-form snuff bottles were a staple at Court, produced in large numbers, particularly in jade, during the Qing dynasty, but they are extremely rare in glass overlay.
