Lot Essay

The inscription may be translated: 'May honor and glory follow you into old age.' It is followed by two seals, bing (Ice) and xin (Heart), which together refer to an ancient poetic allusion to a self-contained being.

This is one of a group of apparently Imperial bottles produced at the Court which include archaistic inscriptions and date from the mid-to late Qianlong period.
