Lot Essay

Although formerly given to Rosalba Carriera, the present miniature is a rare and superb work by Felicità Hoffmann-Sartori, Rosalba's pupil from 1728. The resemblance with Felicità's miniature of Johann Adolf Hasse in the Gemäldegalerie, Dresden (inv. no. M.22) is compelling.
