TROPHIES, CUPS AND MEDALS THE PROPERTY OF THE LATE SIR F. GORDON LOWE Sir F. Gordon Lowe (1884-1972) was one of the most prominent tennis players of his era. His eminent career began when he played for Cambridge University in 1906. He represented his country in South Africa as part of the Drive Club Team in 1910-1911, and was presented with the Drive Club Lawn Tennis Tournament Championship Cup in 1913 and 1920. In 1912 he was part of the winning Davis Cup team, and he was also selected for Britain's Davis Cup teams in 1922 and 1925. His other achievements include winning the Queen's Gentleman's Open Singles, 1913, 1914 and 1925; reaching the semi-finals of the All-Comers' Singles, Wimbledon on several occasions; and being runner-up in 1914 and 1921 with his tennis partner and brother A.H Lowe in the All-Comers' mixed doubles. During his long and successful career, he won many titles and later became well known as a tennis commentator and author.
