Lot Essay

This is an old, perhaps contemporary, copy of the painting by Guercino in the Mus©e des Beux-Arts, Strasburg. The original was painted in 1654 for Carlo II Gonzaga, Duke of Mantua and paid for along with Lot and his daughters, Louvre, Paris.
