An original 'Bungle' bear costume
from Thames Televisions' children show 'Rainbow', made of ginger dralon with separate head, hands and feet, the head with cut-out eye holes and movable mouth, net layered padding suite and felt-tip inside suite 'Good No.1' --65in. (165cm.) high and a unique collection of Bungles costumes including his famous pyjamas, rainbow socks and scarf, Policemans outfit, red dufflecoat, various bloomers, assorted hats including Admirals and blue peaked cap with Rainbow badge
Provenance
This costume are from the same source as the full set of Rainbow characters which were sold in these rooms on the 12th July 2001. They were originally bought direct from Thames Television with a large quantity of costumes from Benny Hill shows and other programes. The vendor who worked for Thames, left and set up a costume hire company with these outfits.

Lot Essay

The original Rainbow was made from late 1972 until 1992. From those twenty years, only four or five of the full sets of characters are known to exist. It is known that a new Bungle outfit was made approximately every two years.
